Sponsorship (SG Talk)
- Last night, October 2, I went to a Chuch Wagon Gang concert in Dickson, TN. The event was one of the Solid Gospel concert series. Something different from most SG concerts but certainly used constantly in secular music was that the concert had a business sponsor.
This was not a name in a handout booklet to be thrown away. This was a local business in Dickson that helped finance the event. They paid money to help put on the concert. The owner of the business came on stage at the beginning and made a three or four minute pitch for the business. In addition to that , the business was mentioned several times during the program.br>br>What is your opinion on this? Is this good or bad for the genre? If good, how can it be expanded?
By the way, tickets were $12.00 which I consider to be inexpensive.

Some Interesting Information (SG Talk) - Just wondering. I am thinking about the full time groups that tour (constantly).
Is there a budget or is everything by the seat of their pants?
What percent of the gross income is budgeted for promotion and advertising?
What percent of the gross income is budgeted for product development
What sort of market research is done by them, their agent or their label to determine where they should be booked?
Are there strategies to expand the market base?

God Has Provided Us A Minidisc (Questions and Answers) - Thank God for women!!!
By following this philosophy, I'm not certain MAN has ever had an original thought!
Seriously Keith, I'm pleased that once again God sent you what you need. So often He does that - even when we don't ask! Thank God for grace and mercy!

Recording Tips (SG Talk) - During NQC, David Knight supplied us with 10 copies of the newly printed book on Recording Tips that he has been sharing with us on SoGospelNews.com.
Anyone interested in registering for a copy of this booklet will need to register for our Newsletter to be chosen.
If you are interested in obtaining this book from David, you can email him via the email address on his article.
This is a very informative booklet and a must have for any group thinking about recording now or in the future.

Shout! Glory (2004) (SG Talk) - Has anyone heard what songs are going to be on this years Shout! CD?
If not, any predictions on what songs will be on it?
Just wondering. *
Hypothetical Situation (SG Talk) - Non Qt Convention all the way! Well maybe you should invite just a couple of quartets so we would have time to go eat HA!

The Martins
The Martins have always been one of the most underrated groups in the industry. The group started in Southern Gospel, but quickly crossed over into the land of Inspirational with their release Dream Big. Since that album, the group has consistently released albums that walk the fine line between country/Southern Gospel and light adult contemporary.

The Whisnants
One of the smoothest and classiest groups out on the Southern Gospel circuit is the Whisnants. They have always been consistent with their strong songs and smooth vocals. I always get excited when this group puts out a new recording because I know what to expect from this group, and they always deliver the goods. "Joy" is just another reason why I love the Whisnants.

Gaither Vocal Band
Take four fine voices . . . yes, I said four . . . stir in a dash of barbershop tradition, a bit of Glad influence, a couple of feel good pop lyrics, and a spiritual or two. Don't forget the patriotic number or the Gaither classic remake. But wait, let's do something different this time and lock all the session players out of the studio. Yep, the Gaither Vocal Band is putting extra emphasis on the middle word in their name. This is vocal music in its purest, most unforgiving form . . . a cappella.
