Happy “New” Year?

As we set our sights upon the arrival of 2007 I can't help but think this year could be a pivoting point for Christians all over the world.

We have witnessed so many changes already in years past. And it seems that with each passing year, more and more folks are turning from God. Folks now a days live how they want and do what they want. I fear that Christians are in that same mind set.

Look at our churches today: Many have forgotten that the house of God is a place of worship. A place of reverence. It's not uncommon to walk into a service now to partake in a carry in event. We need to read the story of how Jesus cleared the temple again!

Let us take time and examine our relationship with God. How is your walk with the Creator? How does God measure up in your life. Is He still considered the most important essential means of existence in your life or has He become a mere commodity?

My prayer this year is for God to allow me the boldness to walk upright before Him and not be ashamed of who I am. I am a child of God. A holy God. A God who will soon return for His bride. My desire is for Him to find favor in me!

I don't want to be considered part of this world. I find it honorable to be peculiar and set apart. I Peter 2:9 - But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

Thank You Sharon for writing the truth! I too find it an honor and privilage to be different from this world. I do not believe that it is necessary to become the world to win the world to Jesus. The humility glory of God will draw a truly hungry and thirsty soul if we will be willing to be a humble vessle for the crucified and ressurected Christ to be poured out through. If we decrease then Jesus will increase and as He is lifted up, He will draw all men unto Himself.

    P.S. I know I amd a horrable speller, sorry.

soccermomky's avatar It is great to be different....The church house is often become a place for socializing and not of worship. It pains me to see some of the dress that is walking into God's house. Jesus may just show up again and empty HIS house.
Thanks for all your positive and influential words. GIG

From what I can gather, dress seems to be a touchy subject among the SO Gospel industry. Just like a pendolum swinging one direction to the other and some wanting to meet in the middle. Well this makes me think of the scripture in revelations, where the Lord said that I would that you were cold or hot, and that if you were luk warm that He would spew us out of His mouth. So I ask myself, am I willing to compromise to be accepted by man or am I willing to ask the Lord with a sincere desire to please Jesus only what would be acceptable in His eyes? Not according to what seemeth to be right, as the Bible states that there is a way that seemeth right unto man, because there is an absolute way to be right.

How can we know without a doubt that we are in the center of Gods will concerning the way we are representing Him? If we would read our Bible it is very clear, and if our flesh is not willing to obey then we need to pray for a willingness to obey. For it is God which worketh in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

When it is all said and done when we cross the Jorden river, there won't be anyone else there but Jesus and this is why His opnion should be all that matters. So if standing out like a sore thumb with a modest and conservative apperance bothers someone elses flesh, then so be it.

Jesus was extremely loved or extremely hated there was no middle of the road for Him and He gladly obeyed because He was married to the Fathers Master Plan and not to this world. This is my personal goal, to become so in love with Jesus that NOTHING else matters including wether or not I can draw a large crowd with my singing or if it is a hand full of hungry souls in the low place. Because really and truly the low place IS the high place in the eyes of Jesus. Our perverted eyesight says that the high place is in the lime light, however Jesus so often will show up quite more frequantly in a nursing Home or jail house service then in a hugh concert hall.

Not that He don't come into large concerts He does but Jesus was meek and lowly and I want to follow His example.

Thank you for your support over my article!

May I please also add that I live by my own personal convictions. I do not have a judgmental attitude toward anyone.

My whole intent of this article was to try and make folks realize sometimes we loose our focus. God does direct us to be set apart. I often wonder at times while participating in "Christian" events who is set apart?

Are we as a "Christian" so desperate to fit in that we are fitting in with the world to much? Call me old fashion, but I still believe to present yourself in a descent manner. Covered up and not drawing attention to one self. There is a difference in wearing a pretty dress than a reveling dress.

I just hope and pray that somehow I can be a witness to serving God in the beauty of "holiness." That doesn't make me better than anybody else. Never has and never will!

There is so much lust in the world and in the music industry. Just because we are "Christian" artists doesn't mean we are exempt from temptation. You hang a worm in the face of fish, guess what? He's gonna latch on that hook!

I made mention to a friend one day that being in the presence of God is not always an over crowed place to be. In a natural state of mind we are often convicted of things in our life the closer we walk with God.

May we all draw closer to Him that we may compel others to seek Him.

    Many Blessin's,

    SKK

Amen Sister Sharron, its time to get back to our first love, Jesus Christ. Everybody wants to go to heaven but they don't want to do anything to get there, it takes repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and the infilling of the Holy Ghost.

The Lord is coming sooner than most can imagine and we really need to live our lives for him and your so right about the worm and the fish. When we place Jesus above ourselves the worms will flee. Your new album is fantastic and you have a # 1 in your new release and I am a Christian is second to none in the Gospel singing world.
