From The Heart - That Empty Feeling

Funny how recently all my topics seem to come from the SoGospelNews.com Message Boards. If you like good discussion, this is the place to be. Though we can get pretty heated, we all do love each other and bless each other in so many different ways. For instance, one member started a topic titled "That Empty Feeling...The day after a SG concert". He then asked the question, "Does anyone else feel sad the day after a much anticipated concert or series of concerts?" This thought really struck home to me. It came the day after SoGospelNews.com's 4th Annual Convention. What a wonderful time we had with outstanding talent, beautiful fellowship, and a great time in the Lord. The house was packed and we were in heaven. Visiting with old friends was a blast and meeting new ones was even more fun. We were all there for one reason and one reason only, to enjoy a day of awesome Southern Gospel Music (old and new)! From old fashioned quartets to progressive mixed trios, what ever style you like, it was there. But, oh, how sad it was to say Goodbye. Somehow we all felt connected (well, at least I did and I ain't afraid to admit it). How I dreaded going back to work that Monday morning. Some of you know this feeling. All your heart longs to do is celebrate this music and the message it brings, yet you have to come back to reality eventually and go back to work. Maybe this is on my heart to encourage the artists who go weekend after weekend and come home to their "real" jobs on Monday. Though the life of a full time artist is not always as beautiful as my mind thinks it is, neither is the life of a part timer longing to get that one person, who could forever change their lives, to hear them. Many long nights go into singing this wonderful music we call Southern Gospel. Many working men and women give of their spare time, time they could be spending with their families and friends. Thank you to all of you, full or part time. Thank you for giving me something that I don't ever want to end. Friendships that will last eternally and joy that will hold me over till I reach the "streets of gold". Once we reach the everlasting shore, we'll no longer feel empty and long for out SG nights to last forever! I believe we'll be singing "Victory in Jesus" together for a LONG while!

Awesome article Amy Marie. Even though I didn't get to be at the convention, I too feel a bond with all the folks on the board. This article really moved me and encouraged me. Thanks so much for writing it.
