Gold City - Nov 06

I just wanted to take a few moments to catch you up with what's been going on with Gold City. As usual, we have been very busy. We just returned from a cruise to the Bahamas. As bad as I hate it, someone has to do it. Haha!

Cruisin'....

As I said, we just returned from the Singing at Sea. The cruise was Oct. 30th - Nov. 4th. We set sail from Jacksonville, Florida, on Carnival Cruise Line's ms Celebration. Our first port of call was Freeport, on Grand Bahama Island. Wednesday, we visited the private island of Half Moon Cay. All of the guys had a great time spending a day at the beach, with their families. Our final stop was the capital city of Nassau. Several of us shopped at the world famous Straw Market. I am still tired, after haggling with the vendors. Along with Gold City, the groups included Legacy Five, The Hoppers, Greater Vision, The Kingsmen, The Inspirations and The Florida Boys. It was five great nights of Gospel music. If you would like to go on an awesome Christian vacation, this is the trip to take!

Jonathan Is Still Here...

To put any rumors to rest, Jonathan Wilburn is still with Gold City. It pains me to say it, but he is still here. Just joking!!

As you may already know, Jonathan did not make the Singing at Sea trip. He stayed home to be with his family during a special event. Jessica Wilburn's volleyball team advanced all the way to the Alabama state finals. Unfortunately, Jessica's team came up short in the championship game. On a good note, Jessica moved into second place for the state of Alabama, all-time aces record. This was only her Sophomore season!! Do they have pro volleyball??

We were glad Jonathan was able to be at home with his family. Bruce Talliaferro was gracious enough to go with us and fill the void. Who would turn down a free cruise? Seriously, Bruce is an awesome singer and did a great job. Thanks Bruce!!

Steve Ladd Update...

I just wanted to let you know that Steve is healthy and back to normal. Ok, let's just say healthy. I'm not sure if he's ever been normal. Thank you all for keeping him in your prayers!

Glad to hear Jonathan is still with Gold City! A lot of us sgm fans are looking and hoping more of our favorite groups will have some stability and longevity about them. Jus' my opinion, but there has been way too much "hopping around" in the last few years. Gold City is a staple to sgm and we all hope their ministry will be getting stronger for years to come. I don't know about all of the Gaither videos, but if he hasn't already done so, maybe he will have a Gold City feature. If there is one already available, let me know. My wife and I are kinda partial to Jonathan's mom and dad who still have a great minsitry [Jackie & Elaine Wilburn]. Wouldn't it be great if they [Jonathan, Jackie, and Elaine] could go back to the studio for one more project just for the fun of it! Long live Gold City.
