Sharron Kay King – Nov 06

Colossians 3:1-4
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

I am so thankful I am in Christ! Things of this earth have become so irrelevant when I consider the cost of my salvation. Looking back on my life, I can honestly say, it's been the most valuable lesson I've learned. Being thankful for family, friends, and a career are important, don't get me wrong. But to be thankful for my salvation is far more important to me than anything I could ever obtain in this life.

Learning to hide myself in Christ was so hard for me. I felt that I had to be seen to be heard. But I had it all backward. The experience of being quite and hidden in Christ is when the real me came out. I am nothing and have nothing without Christ. I mean NOTHING! When we are hidden in Christ, that's all people see is Jesus in our lives. I still struggle with that. I think we all do. After all, we are human.

As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, I want to focus on the gifts God has given me... starting with a new lease on life. That is an everyday gift! I am thankful for my family. My time with them is much more memorable now that I am in Christ. They see me far more differently than in years past. I think they have learned to appreciate my walk with God. You see, I'm the only born-again Christian in my family. My children are Christians, but as far as my family, no. That makes it all the more important to be hidden in Christ.

I want to be even more thankful for the comforts and the joy's God has brought into my life; my home, my friends, my church and my career. All these things are of God and I acknowledge Him in all that I have. Again I say, I am nothing and have nothing without Christ.

So, in closing I encourage you to focus once again on the GIVER of your blessings. So often we think and dwell on the gifts and not the GIVER. Let us concentrate on being perfected in Christ. As we become hidden in Christ the world will see Jesus in us!

Colossians 3:14-17
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Until next time; Chin up, journey on!

Many blessin's,
Sharron Kay

Well put. It is HE that made us and not we ourselves. Sometimes being the silent witness is so fulfilling.
