Devotional - The God of Today

I was listening to the new project, Stand By Me, by Ernie Hasse and Garry Jones' new group, The Signature Sound Quartet. One of the songs on the project is The God of Today. As I was listening, I was so encouraged. We somehow seem to forget sometimes that the very same God that was there for Moses, Daniel, David and so many others, is the very same God we serve today. And even more important, He hasn't changed. If you can read in the Bible where He did something for someone else, you can trust Him to do the same for you when you ask.

"For the God of the past, is the God of today If He did it back then, He'll do it again, He forever remains the same So trust in His unchanging power And follow Him, come what may For the God of the past is the God of today."
AMEN!!! Jesus tells us this in Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." And Father God couldn't put it any plainer than in Malachi 3:6, "For I am the LORD, I change not." But so many times we seem to get the idea that it must be different. No, it's not a conscience thought, or we would reject it. But the enemy wears us down, and does what he does best, plants seeds of doubt as to whether God will do it for us. We never question if He has the power to do it, but the real question is whether He will do it for us. The 2nd verse of this song addresses this very thing:
"If there is a sea of doubt you can't cross And the enemy tells you that all hope is lost Remember what God did just yesterday He's still on His throne and He'll still make a way When lions of fear start to rise up and roar He will protect you 'cause He's done it before God is still God - He's Faithful and True And He cares about you"
We need to remember what all God has done, not just for us, but for anyone. He is no respecter of persons, so He will do it for you, too. We need that journal of Faith in our hearts. David had that when he faced Goliath. Not wanting the Kings armor or worldly ways, he said, "The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine." (I Samuel 17:37) I don't know what you're facing today, dear Friend, but you are not alone. Whatever it is, someone has faced it before, and God came through for them. You need to know that He will come through for you today. He loves you. He never changes. Get in the Word and find an example where He came through for someone in a similar example and you stand on that word, and the promise that He will do it for you!! The God of the past IS the God of Today!!!
