The Crabb Family Announce Final Tour - Disbanding

It is with great sadness that we announce that during a press conference today in Hendersonville, TN, the Crabb Family announced their plans to disband and go their seperate ways. The Family will make this year their final tour together before seperating August 1, 2007.

Below is the official press release as released by the family.

For over 10 years siblings, Jason, Terah, Adam, Kelly, and Aaron, known collectively as the Crabb Family have sang the gospel around the world. With 16 number 1 songs, three Grammy nominations, 10 GMA music awards, and a lot of prayer, the Crabb Family as we know it now has decided to call it quits. Each member will keep with tradition and continue to pursue their separate ministries once the tour has been completed. The siblings feel it is time to move to a new season and are anticipating what God has in store for all their ministries. The Crabb Family will set out on a farewell tour immediately. Their last date as a group will fall on August 1, 2007.

Everyone is being asked to respect the decision of the Crabb Family and keep each of them in your prayers. All interview requests should be directed to Big Ten Entertainment at 615-537-1295 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) . To schedule the Crabb Family fairwell dates or information on a farewell date, contact Becky Simmons Agency.

I'm shocked and saddened, because I've been a big fan of the Crabb Family for years. They were the first S/G Gospel group I ever saw live.
I'll be praying for them on this tour that the harvest of souls will be great and that God will richly bless them in the next phase of their ministries.
    Love the Crabb Family!!

  2.    The Dunaways ~ 08/01/2006

We appreciate The Crabb Family and their friendship and realness.. They will be missed, but we are happy for them because we know how wonderful and fulfilling this will be for the future of their families and their personal ministries.

With this we say congratulations, you have alot to be excited about!

    God Bless!

My love and prayers have always been extended to this family, but never so much as they are right now.

You all have done an amazing work for Christ these past 10 years. So many souls have been saved, so many lives have been changed! I know that your ministry as a group has greatly impacted my life.

There is no doubt in my mind that God is going to bless you as you embark on new solo adventures for Him. You all have an annointing. Don't get discouraged during this time of transition- look forward to the blessings that God is going to pour down on you!

I know that I speak for a lot of people when I say that you are greatly loved and appreciated, as a group and as individuals.

    Love you!!!
    Ashley

Could it be one of the best things to happen in a long while?

That sucks. What annointing they have

  7.    Jim Mahalick ~ 08/01/2006

The Crabb Family have been a support to so many over the past 10 years. They have always been willing to lend a hand or encourage others when it was needed. I have made some changes myself this past year in my career of SG, and they were a great support to my decision. I would hope that everyone out there that has enjoyed their music would respect this decision to disband. Best of luck to all of you guys and God be with you!

  8.    Chris Hester ~ 08/02/2006

I have had the opportunity to work with the Crabb family on a couple of dates and will honestly say, There is no better folks than these guys! We will miss you as "The Crabb Family" collectivly, but look forward to seeing what God has in store for your ministries and careers individually. See you guys soon ~ Chris

I'm sad to hear and announce this news to southern gospel fans in Richmond, VA. However, I know the Crabb Family will keep God at the center of their decisions. This can only mean we will miss them, but God must be leading them down a different...better path!

To The Crabb Family: Richmond loves you...you will be missed as a group, but we anticipate your return as a new creation in God's will!

Did nobody see this coming? I have been looking for this to happen for some time now.

Selfishly I wanted them to stay on the road for a long, long time. But I do recognize that the sheer logistics of keeping that many families on the road for as many dates a year as they do has GOT to wear you down.
I think this will be a great year for them - they have a powerful annointing and with a clear cut plan can go full bore and reach even more people - kind of a "blaze of glory" thing.
I read a post from Aaron on another blog and was heartened by his attitude. The best thing we can do for the Crabb Family is to keep them in our prayers.

  13.    Sharron Kay King ~ 08/02/2006

The impact the Crabb Family had on the world was tremendous as a group. I can't imagine what they can do as their journey continues as individual ministries. I hope & pray that their message of hope, encouragement and Jesus saves will go far and wide.
I wish you all the best!

I am sad to hear the news about the crabb family disbanding. However i know that the are doing what they feel that God has told them to do. The all are full of God and i will truly miss seeing them in concert. May God blessing continue to fall on the Crabb family as they continue on their journey. We all love you and appreciate the many years and hours that you all have given up to minister to us.

I too am VERY sad and heart broken. We fell in love with this group back 10-11 years ago when my wife and I went to see Michael English in concert in Owensboro, but The Crabb Family opened for him, and we there that night TRUE Crabb Family fans and soon friends. I will say there is NO other group anywhere that does/will go as hard as these guys do.

And I do want to say WE LOVE YOU, and more importantly we will be PRAYING for ALL of you!!!!! God Bless You Guys!

The Crabb Family came on the SG music scene like gangbusters and were no doubt a breath of freah air. Were they anointed, you better beleive it!
But something has happened, even the most die hard Crabb fan has to admit something is just not right.
Just what does "blurr the line imply?"
And my biggest question, why did they leave what got them to the top, southern gospel music?

Hey guys, Just to let you know everyone is really gonna miss yall. You have always had just the song I needed to hear. Last aug. after my dad pastored a church for over 5 yrs we were told that they wanted us to leave. Your song "Through the fire" was right there. Then june the 13th (the day before yall sang at our SC Church of God campmeeting) we found out that my mom has breast cancer, and your songs were there. But we will keep you all in your prayers and ask that you would pray for us. Luv yall.

The promotional material for the newest album states "Blur the Lines between Traditional & Contemporary, Young & Old, Black & White, Joy & Sorrow, Loud & Soft, North & South, Right & Left, Rich & Poor, Faith & Fear, First & Last and Pulpit & Pew" quite the noble endeavor if you ask me.

the Crabb Family will be greatly missed. But what a GREAT group of kids, to know when it's time to go a different direction and follow God's leading.. They aren't finished they are all just beginning... We love you and are praying for you daily!!

So the world will not end next August 1. I like the kids, in fact I have done several services with them. But it was back in the old days.
You have to be blinded by love for them not to see that they have changed. It was southern gospel that took them to the top and if they were still doing SG they might still be at the top. The
writing was on the wall when at last years NQC they won nothing!

This is truely disheartening!! I literally gasped when I was told. Whether people like the direction they headed a few years ago or not, they still did what the Lord allowed them to do. I can honestly say that they touched the lives of my 3 boys and left a lasting impression on them. For that, I will always be grateful. They have been through personal turmoil in the last year. And they did it so gracefully. I only hope that my boys can have the impact on one other person in their lives the way that The Crabb Family has had on so many. I have never seen such down to earth people. Even as busy as they are, they have sat down with my kids (whom they did not know at the time) and taught them scriptures and prayed with them.

Whether you want to say Southern Gospel, Contempory or "Blur the Lines" music--- Come August 2, 2007 there will be a void in the music industry!!

In my thoughts, prayers and hearts!!

How amazing that "christians" feel impowered to "pass judgement" on those who do not follow what they feel to be the norm. Jesus himself spent countless hours of his short life preaching to the "religous world" that what they were teaching was glorified hipocracy. I know... suits are more Godly than jeans, and females who choose to wear pants are disrespectful of the gospel... WHATEVER! Remember John the Baptist (not southern) and how even the "KJV" described his appearance? I use to think that the "world" needed to be evangelised, but how can this be when the "evangelists" cant get past the traditions of man... Yes, matching suits and ties, short hair, and no facial hair is a manmade tradition (sorry). You preach being seperate, but seperate from what? Seperate from the sin of the world, or seperate from what you perceive to be sinful because you disagree with it? You will embrace any group who sings southern gospel, wears a suit, and cries while singing about seeing moma again; but you condemn anyone who says... we want to reach the LOST world, not pamper the "christians"... HOW SAD. How fortunate for you "die hard southern gospel" christians that your favorite groups will never be honest enough to expose their own vices... else you may have to burn their albums to prevent being possesed by the very demons they have given into. SHAME ON YOU! Remember when the Oak Ridge Boys went country? You called them SINNERS, but let them produce a southern gospel album with your favorite songs, and you cant wait to purchase it. SHAME ON YOU! Ricky Skaggs has never sang southern gospel, but you love him because he sings "good ole bluegrass" (which I love) and he has short hair... HE MUST BE A CHRISTIAN (for the ignorant: I do believe Mr. Skaggs is a good moral Christian). When the Crabbs were SG you loved them, but when they tried to minister to a different group of people, you declared them "BACKSLIDERS". Now that they are disbanding, you say "See, I told you God wouldnt bless them when they left SG". Funny, that "somone" blessed Billy Graham when he wasnt using SG in his progams. And how about that ELVIS gospel album in your closet... you should repent NOW (hurry). I wish the BEST for the Crabb family, and would offer a prayer for them, but YOU would probably think it a waste of my time... after all, I still enjoy Michael English's music. HEAVEN HELP ME.

The Crabb Family may have not been my own cup of tea,but they were working for the Lord, which is more than many of us can say. I wish them the best in what ever they do as long as they stay true to God and Not Man

  28.    Tony Trout ~ 08/03/2006

Tony Trout's avatar Wow....I'm deeply shocked and saddened to hear this....my prayers are with The Crabb Family during this time of transition. I believe God has great things in store for them all and that we ain't seen NOTHING yet!!

Rusty that will preach all day!

  30.    .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) ~ 08/03/2006

I don't believe it was just because the Crabb Family played southern gospel music that they got so big. If Jesus didn't anoint them the way He did and open the doors He did they would never have gotten to the platform they're at. It was all because of Jesus blessing them for obeying and listening to His call. No one could ever do that without Jesus doing it through them. Besides...who are they? I know they'd say that they'd want people to remember Jesus not them, because that's the only reason people should minister...to point others to Jesus' and His saving grace...to glorify Him...to serve Him...to lift Jesus up...not ourselves or our music.
