The Ride of Your Life

Tim and I took the girls to Six Flags over Georgia this past Memorial Day Weekend. With this being possibly our last opportunity to have a family vacation with just the four of us before Rachel gets married, we wanted to be sure and go somewhere she and Rebecca would really enjoy. Rachel will ride any type of ride – the wilder the better! Rollercoasters were the goal of Tim, Rachel, and Rebecca, while I was determined to show no fear and ride as much as possible. The first thing we did was head to the “Gotham City” section of the park and rode the “Mindbender.” It worked. I unbuckled and quickly got off the ride with a pounding headache, realizing that my job for the rest of the day would be holding backpacks and cell phones and taking pictures of my children hanging upside down.

Life feels like a rollercoaster to me sometimes. We recently went through some tough things in our family – we were hit hard by tornadoes in West Tennessee, losing two family members along with all the devastation of property. Seven family members lost their homes and my mom and dad’s house was damaged when a huge tree fell on it, only feet from where they were hiding. Tim had another lung test and was put on oxygen at night. Rachel informed us she will be moving to Louisville, Kentucky when she gets married.

All of this is now being followed up by many good things! My Mom and Dad have had their house repaired. Tim’s lung capacity has improved. We have just released a new single – “It’s a Sure Thing” – and not only that, but we got the opportunity to do a concept video for that single in downtown Nashville thanks to our Pastor, Johnny Minick! How cool is that?! Rachel getting engaged – talk about a rollercoaster of emotions!

No matter how crazy things get, I can always call out to God and He’s right there. I can always pick up my Bible and find the answers I need to any situation. I can always trust in the salvation that Christ provided on the cross. I can always trust in the power of the Holy Ghost to face anything that comes my way. It’s a Sure Thing you can depend on the Lord! What Are You Waiting For!

P.S. I DID ride some other rides – Thunder Mountain, Monster Plantation, Dahlonega Mine Train, and the old model T’s. Now if you don’t think that riding in a kiddie Model T was daring, let me inform you that I let Tim drive…

till next time…
Sally

    Great article Sally,

Bad things do happen to good people as your article points out, however God always comes through and is bigger than any mountain we could ever try to climb.
    Keep those articles coming.
    WE love you guys,
    Dwight

Sally, I always enjoy what you have to say, you are so funny. I miss you and Tim in the choir when you're not there.
