The Imperials - Making of an Album Part 3

Welcome to the third segment of “The Making of an Album with The Imperials”….FINALLY!!!

We definitely need to take a moment here and offer an explanation as to why this segment has been so delayed.  In short…because the process of making the album got pretty seriously delayed.  You know what?  That should be included in “the making of an album” because there are almost always delays of one kind or another.  Most of our delays this year were beyond our control but we have seen God’s hand in everything and we still believe everything will be in His time which is always ON TIME.  We won’t go into all of the details of the delays but basically, we had to start the studio part over.  If you’ve been following this series, you know that the tracks for the album were done back in December 2005 and we were ready to start on the vocals during the early part of 2006.  Well, due to things beyond our control, we had to re-record the tracks at the end of March and we also had to hire a new vocal producer around that same time.  Needless to say, that set us back about 3 months in the process.

The good news is that we have been recording the vocals now for approximately a month and things are sounding great!  There’s no way to tell you how excited we are to get this thing done and out to you!!  Because we’re touring so much right now, we’re only able to record when we get back to Nashville and when the studio is available.  We’re totally finished with four of the songs and all the lead vocals are done on the rest of them.  Hopefully all of the vocals will be finished no later than early June.  You can listen to clips of some of the new songs on our website as well as on our MySpace site.  By the way, while you’re at our website, be sure to go to the STORE and pre-order the new CD.  You’ll be among the first to get it when it’s finished and your copy will be autographed by each of us.

In the last segment, we said that we would tell you about some of the specific songs on the album.  We’ll list a few of them here and make a few comments.

  1. All That Matters (Straight up 4 part harmony in the style of Jake’s Imperials.  Kind of our tribute to Jake, Armond, Gary, Sherrill and Henry)
  2. Big God (remake of Imperials hit from the early 90s.  Ian is awesome on this one.  This ain’t your Daddy’s Imperials!!!)
  3. Closer Still (we actually call it “Take Me Deeper”.  This is a real catchy song with a P&W feel to it.  Jeremie’s tenor lines on this are amazing!)
  4. True (This is a love song that we are dedicating to our wives.  They are such a support to us and this is just a real small, but heart-felt token of our appreciation!  This is one of the best songs we’ve ever heard and you’re going to love the harmonies!)
  5. Wrap My Arms Around the World (Jason really shines on this song that says, “Lord, you’re love is so great that I’d have to wrap my arms around the world to share it.  And by the way…I’m willing to do that with YOUR help!”)

Thanks for joining us again for this segment and thanks so much for your patience with us as we go through this process.  Please pray for us as the Lord brings us to mind.  We’ll be back in about a month or so.

Blessings!

The Imperials
Ian, Jason, Jeremie & Shannon

Having just recently had the Imperials in our church, they are absolutely the best blend of voices that they have ever had. Their heart is in ministry, and their music propells them...

imperialsfan67's avatar This is looking good guys!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to hear the new music. I am very intrigued to hear the remake of Big God. I have enjoyed the first two recordings of the song, and so I figure the third should be great too! God bless you guys, and hang in there. It will be worth the wait.
