New Ground - Hot, Hot, Hot & NQC

Hi Everyone,

It's hot, hot, hot here in Alabama but we can already see Fall on the horizon and NQC is just around the corner! Hope to see and meet lots of you at the "Convention of Conventions" for Southern Gospel Music Fans. Come by booth #146 (Southern Gospel Promoters Booth) - I will be helping work their booth Monday - Friday. We will be leaving on Saturday morning - gotta go work the weekend - and sing for the Lord.

But I have to let each of you know what an awesome month we have just experienced!!! The first weekend found us in Jasper, Alabama with the McKameys - they are definitely a popular group in northwest Alabama - people were standing in line trying to get in the door nearly two hours before the concert and it was in the middle of Summer - Hot, Hot, Hot!! But they did not let their fans down - it was a fabulous sing with the Peg, Rueben, Carol & Connie. Then it was on to Walnut, Mississippi to the Community Pentecostal Church with our friends Shane & Melody Phillips. Have you ever been to a church where everyone can sing - this is it!!! They let it rip!!

Off to Florida, where it was hot, hot, hot and we were guests of the group Pure Heart at Old Plank Road Baptist Church. David, Kris & Dusty were awesome hosts for their Homecoming and everyone in Florida loves Southern Gospel Music!!! We also enjoyed being with the Brazell's, Harper Brothers, Benny & Linda Lyles and Risen. These are really awesome groups and they all did a tremendous job!!! Thanks again Pure Heart!! Well, we are not finished with our Florida trip - we are off to Nocatee Church of God - Pastor John and his wife Tina really made us feel right at home and this is a really on fire church - you outta see all the youth - wow - what a testimony - three pews packed with youth on a Saturday night!!! Then we head toward home - but not before stopping off with our friend Janet Welsch and the congregation at the Westside Baptist Church in Zephyrhills!! This was our second, and we hope not our last, visit to this great church!!!

Our third weekend was spent with our bestest buddies - Bobby & Dorothy Byrd in Fultondale, Alabama. Dorothy has us down to her Senior Center once a year and it is a time that we always look forward to!! But this year was even greater - our bestest singing buddies, Southern Image from Tupelo, Mississippi, were also singing that night. Needless to say - it was a lot of fun, fellowship, and hot, hot, hot conversation between all of us. Three for Thee, Darrel, Linda & Tommy, sang their hearts out also on this concert - they really did an awesome job!!!! We love them - they have the sweetest spirit!! But we just can't say enough about Dorothy and Bobby and their hospitality. They cooked and cooked and loaded and worked on speakers and helped with the motor home and ran errands - it is soooo good to have awesome friends like them. But let me tell you - that Dorothy has family in every city of the United States - everywhere we go she has a brother or sister - and we still haven't met them all - LOL!!! But Aunt Jessie and Aunt Ne Ne (as we call them) were there in the middle of all this taking care of us and Southern Image!!! We are so thankful for all they do!!!! Then it's Homecoming Sunday at the Church of the Living God in Cordova, Alabama. Pastor Wayne and his congregation go to meetin'. These people have church!!! We pack up and move about two hours down the road to Nauvoo Church of God and meetin' was going on there, too!!! So it was just a great weekend of fellowship, meetin' and eatin'!!!!

There is always a first for everything and we got to be a part of the first "Gospel at the Gazebo". Huntsville, Alabama is about 45 minutes from us and they are a city of about 325,000. They have not gotten the impact of Southern Gospel Music. But Kent Smith, who is a City Employee, talked with the city and they sponsored a great night of gospel music!! New Ground, Kings IV, Kent Smith Family and New Speer Revival sang to approximately 400 people at the Gazebo - and they loved it!!! Even on a hot, hot, hot Friday night people brought their lawn chairs and enjoyed the sounds of gospel ringing from the Gazebo. The city was so pleased they are already talking about having another "Gospel Night" - Praise the Lord!! Palestine Methodist Church was our next stop - the Roberts Family and their many friends made us feel so welcome. If you ever get the chance to visit their precious church ask them about the snake!!! LOL We brought our ministry to Jones Chapel Freewill Baptist with Pastor Jones - we sang their afternoon Homecoming and the Jones Family sang - they are great - these are some of the most down to earth people you would ever want to meet - fun, God fearing and loving!!!

We finished the month at Bethel Baptist Church in Carnes, Alabama - we can't wait to make our yearly visit to be with our friends the Curtis', Gurty, Clarence, Lynn, Bubba, Sabrina & Kyle. These are some of our biggest fans and we sure do appreciate all their love and support and we love going to their church the Sunday before Labor Day!!! This is a standing singing!!! Oh yeah, our friend Joe (Bubba's Dad) goes to this church, too. He is an really great Christian and we are praying for the Lord to continue to use him in a mighty way!!! Love ya Joe!! Bethel Baptist in the morning and New Bethel in the evening - but New Bethel is in Warrior, Alabama. We met Mr. Charles Isbell about six years ago at a singing in Hanceville, AL and we became instant friends. We love Mr. Charles and Mrs. Nell (we call her puddin'). Puddin' can make some of the best Banana Pudding you ever put in your mouth. If we do their Homecoming - they will always make sure that we get first dibs on the puddin' - LOL - oh, the joys of being a gospel singer - hot, hot, hot banana puddin'!!

It's been a great month - hope to see ya'll at our singings and at NQC in September. Check out our schedule at http://www.newgroundministries.com !!

Until He Comes,
