Embrace - “Walk His Way”

Warmest greetings from the Embrace family! For those of you we haven’t yet had the privilege to meet , Embrace is a mixed trio from the Brandon- Pearl, Mississippi area. Melinda Hand, Marci Ferguson, and Dane Truhett make up Embrace and have been singing together for nearly three years. Although Melinda, Marci, and Dane grew up within a fifty mile radius of one another, they had never performed together until the Lord brought them under one roof at Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi. Marci and Dane had begun the Embrace ministry with another vocalist, Liz Shows but at the end of their first year Liz answered God’s call to go into student ministry. Melinda had just moved to the Brandon area and both Marci and Dane felt God speaking to their hearts that she was the one He was calling to take the third position in the Embrace trio. What an exciting affirmation of God’s timing and provision!

Embrace is a ministry committed to Christ and family, greatly desiring to serve the Lord in our private as well as our public lives. Melinda and husband, Paul have two children--Baleigh, who is nine and McKayla, who is eight. Marci and her husband, John have one son--Kirkland, an active and charming two-year-old! Dane and his wife, Nora (that would be me) also have two children--Carrie, who is eight and Stephen, a seven-year-old 200% boy. The children are all home-schooled at this time and travel with us as much as possible. They serve beside their parents like the little soldiers of the Cross that they are. We travel on a 1982 MCI bus lovingly called “ Ruby” and when all eleven of us are in tow, it’s been said we resemble the Darlin’s of Andy Griffith fame, pullin’ into town. Paul, affectionately known as the “Bald Headed Bus Driver” is at the wheel.

God has given each member of the Embrace team responsibilities. The Lord is most certainly an equal opportunity employer and when the bus stops everyone does their part. Our children, known as The Mustard Seed Moving Company, are becoming increasingly adept at carrying equipment, helping with set-up, and whatever else it takes to prepare to minister. Even little Kirkland can carry a mic stand to it’s proper place. It gives us great joy as we watch our children learn to serve the Savior. We each consider it a great privilege to serve our Lord Christ.

The Embrace ministry was founded on the deepest conviction that God has a purpose and a plan for each life and that our particular mission is to tell the lost about the Savior and to encourage believers in their walk with the Lord. Our earnest desire, our ongoing prayer, is that when we enter a place to minister and worship that those who are there with us will leave changed, not by Embrace but by the power of the Living God at work in us and through us. Our highest calling is to “Walk His Way“!

I love Embrace's new project. It is alittle different from what they have done before. It shows off the talent that the Lord has bestowed on them. Everytime you see and hear them you know they have been with Jesus. I can't wait for what Jesus has in store in future projects. May the Lord keep on blessing them in their ministry.
