Tim & Mary Alice Lovelace– Laughin’ with the Lovelaces

Producer: Jeff Collins/Kim White/Lucas Frye/Tom Kelley
Label:
Crossroads Music
Website:
www.lovelacecomedy.com

Tim Lovelace is a master at music and comedy. He was a clown prince before he married Mary Alice, and with her playing the “straight man”, so to speak, Tim has a wonderful resource to play off of. Though they are wonderful songwriters and good singers, performance-wise, comedy is where this couple excels.

This DVD features some of the best of Tim and Mary Alice Lovelace and features them mostly at the Grand Resort Hotel & Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee during different tapings throughout the last few years. It features almost 1 full hour of music and comedy, and it also features almost another hour of bonus footage, which includes an insightful interview segment with the Lovelaces by Jim and Ellen Moss as well as Tim Lovelace playing the part of the South Pole Santa Claus and telling his version of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, which is absolutely priceless.

While there is A LOT of comedy, there are some serious moments interspersed throughout with such songs as “HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW”, “JESUS IS A WAYMAKER”, “UNTO THE HILLS” (with Mary Alice performing one of the most beautiful renditions I've ever heard), “FIRST THINGS FIRST”, “CHILD OF THE KING” and “SOMEONE TO CARE.” There are also plenty of fun songs like “DON'T SIT IN MY PEW”, “BAGEL & GRITS” (which I have to add, describes my wife and I to a ‘T'), “THINGS THAT WON'T BE THERE”, “THE BALLAD OF LEVI SLOCUM” (aka- “The Wall Song”), and the ever popular, “LIVE YOUR LIFE SO THE PREACHER WON'T HAVE TO LIE AT YOUR FUNERAL.” There are also a couple of excellent instrumentals by Tim on this DVD as well.

Of course, there are plenty of moments full of laughter on this recording as Tim tells his stories about their early years of traveling and singing as well as raising their daughter, Gabrielle Rose. Some of his favorite stories are also included like “THE TEA ROOM STORY” and the ever popular, “KILT STORY.” Tim has the rare ability to have you in stitches in one minute, and then turn things around on a dime and be serious the next.

They say that laughter is the best medicine and there is a whole pharmacy right here on this DVD. You will laugh till your side's hurt and the tears rolling down your face, but you'll also find some very tender and deeply moving moments as well.

    TIM:

We were at the Brumley Sing in Fayetteville, Arkansas. You performed the song pertaining to going back to singing by the hymnbooks and not from words on the wall. Could you please tell me what the name of the song is and how to get a CD with this song on it. It was great!

My wife and I were privilaged to see Tim and Mary Alice at the Eden Baptist Church in Brooksville, Florida a few months back. To be truthful, I didn't feel I would enjoy their concert because I thought it was going to be corney. Well, there were times it was a bit corney, but it was also heart warming and hilarious. I laughed and cried during the entire time.

I found myself wanting to talk with Tim about the Lord but never found the courage to approach him. However, I did realize that for the first time in years I desired an audience with the Lord and I feel I owe that to Tim. Thank you sir.

I was fortunate to shake Tim's hand on the way out of the church and I purchased his DVD "Laughin' with the Lovelaces". When ever I feel down and out, I stick in the DVD and a smile comes back to my face and soul. I would recommend Tim and Mary Alice to any congregation of any faith. They are warm, honest, sincere, down home and absolutely hilarious.

May God bless you Lovelaces' and I sincerely hope that we may meet again one day.

    Hello Tim and Mary-Alice,

The Bowens here. We're back in Brooksville again. Brenda's mother passed away so we packed up our worldly belonging and headed back south. Hopefully Eden will have you back again for a visit. We so enjoyed your first concert, we look forward to another real soon. Take care and we hope and pray your daughter is growing tall and strong.

    God Bless you both,

    Mark & Brenda Bowen
