Wow! “June is bustin’ out all over!” We are approaching the beginning of summer, and things are really starting to gear up for an exciting fall.

Several artists are in the finishing stages of new CDs and the anticipation of new projects is very evident. The Glovers and the Baker/Pasma Families are two that are very near completion.

Hot on the heels of these two will come an new project from a group based in West Virginia, New Mercy, scheduled to begin production in early August. Also scheduled are new projects from Sondra Burnett and The Living Waters Trio. Yes, an exciting fall is just ahead!

The month of July will present a great opportunity for fans to enjoy appearances from almost all of our Family Music Group/Butler Music Group artists. The 6th Annual Gospel Music Fan Festival, presented by SoGospelNews.com, will feature a showcase on Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Among those performing will be Christlike, The Morris’, Ava Kasich, New Mercy, Jamie Farmer, Cheri Taylor, Sondra Burnett, The Glovers, Sharron Kay King, Living Waters Trio, and a few surprises. This is one you don’t want to miss!

In thinking about this article, I was drawn to this verse: Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. (I Thessalonians 5:11, KJV) The word comfort means encourage and the word edify means to build up. So we are admonished by the Word to encourage each other and build up each other.

In a time when so many people spend their days thinking up ways to discourage and tear down their fellow man, it is so refreshing to see how many of those who attend a Gospel concert are encouraged and lifted up above their problems. These, in turn, so often send that encouragement back to the artists who spend their time traveling and ministering and sending forth the Word of God. Thus, it becomes a never-ending cycle when the encouragement received by the artist goes out again in another concert, another town or another church.

Make a special effort today – and every day – to encourage and build up someone. Write a note, send an E-mail, make a phone call. It’s an easy way to make a positive difference for the cause of Christ!
