Selling With Confidence And Enthusiam!

Selling is the process of getting other people to feel the way you feel about your product and your capabilities. It is nothing more than the transfer of that understanding and feeling that you have within.

I have been in sales all my adult life. I have, and still do, work with some of the larger companies in the world. Having worked for a worldwide corporation and was blessed enough to set sales records while in their employment. I started my own business over twenty years ago and I have not lost one large customer that I have sold during that period How does one go from representing the largest company in the world in our industry to representing oneself and still sell and service the same size and type Clientele?

Selling With Confidence And Enthusiam!

Have you ever thought that as a singer you are selling? Every time you sing one note you are selling yourself and your ideas to someone. I have often wondered if this is one of the reasons that groups do not succeed. Could it be that some do not really believe what they are singing? Could it be that our appearance and attitude do not correlate with words we are saying?

Selling is telling a story, whether it is a product story or a spiritual story, it is still telling a story. If you select songs that tell a story you are on the way to succeeding. Tempo, melody, harmony, etc. all are part of singing but without a good story it is temporary.

If you want to build a fan base that last forever you must give them a story that you believe in, and in a manner in which they will feel the same as you. You may find a song that gives you instant recognition but it will not give you instant success.

To succeed you must transfer that feeling to the fan. Wouldn't it be great if every group would pick the songs that tell a story and that tells "THE" story? Wouldn't it be great if every group believed that story and transferred that belief to their fans? Wouldn't it be great if we did this with such enthusiasm and conviction that Southern Gospel Music would become what it should, and that is the best style and method of spreading the Gospel?

Yes, singing is a ministry. But don't try to pretend it is a not business. You must be able to pay for the expense of the product and the travel. Your sales and fees are the income that sustains your ministry. Your product table at your concerts is one indicator if how well you have sold yourself and your product (Faith, Hope, Salvation through Jesus Christ).

If you are selling God's message, do it with every ounce of physical and spiritual strength you have. God Bless each of you

I could not agree more, and I say the same thing all the time!

Who would listen to a preacher, if he didn't "sell" his message? If all he did was stand there and read a sermon (although I understand that it does happen in some places) or speak without inflection or volume and intensity changes, how sad and boring the message would be!

Thankfully, the ministry allows us to sell the message to others. Every time we witness to someone about Jesus, we are selling. I can't say that we are always doing a good job of it, but we are making the pitch. Our actions, behavior, etc., are all influences to the masses. How we talk to people at the product table is as important as the songs we sing on the stage. If you are rude at the table, it does not matter at all what you sang, how spiritual you acted, or the message of the songs, because you BLEW THE SALE!

I pray that we (all christians)always keep in mind that we are in sales, and HE is the best thing that anyone could get!
