Family Matters - March 05

The apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 1: 21-22a these words: For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor…(KJV).

Paul was torn between his desire live and be fruitful for Christ or to die and begin his eternal life in the presence of his Lord and Savior. In today's world there are many things that cause us to desire the soon coming of Christ, but until that time, we, like Paul, must continue in fruitful labor.

There are many groups today who are doing just that - continuing in fruitful labor. The radio airwaves are filled songs that tell the sinner how to come to Christ as well as songs that encourage the Christian to be faithful in his walk with Christ.

Although "life on the road" can be difficult, when an artist receives an Email or a letter telling about the impact a song has had on someone's life, the difficulties suddenly become joy.

I'd like to share with you a couple of "joymakers" that were sent to some of our artists. The first was sent to Christlike concerning their current single, "Here I Am Again," and the second was sent to Sharron Kay King about her debut single, "Small Piece of Clay."

I love "Here I Am Again." Just recently I lost my mom, went through a critical illness myself 2 weeks after she died, spent 4 weeks in the hospital, didn't want to live. I had no pastor, no church fellowship, etc., because I had been out of church for 8 years taking care of my mom. She had the beginnings of Alzheimer's, and I'm thankful He took her home while she still knew me and could say goodbye. Even since coming home, I've tried twice to end it all, the last time just 2 1/2 weeks ago with about 50 pain pills. I should not have waked up, but I did. I have found a church with a pastor that I actually grew up in church with. Still, there is what feels like an ice block in the pit of my stomach that never goes away. So, Lord, "here I am again." God bless you.
Betty, Waynesville, NC

Dear Sharron,
I just this afternoon went over to Pine Bluff, Ark. to pick up my first CD of your song, "Small Piece Of Clay." I had ordered it last week, after hearing it played on 880 out of North Little Rock. I think it is through the Solid Gospel station. Anyway, it has blessed me. I thank you so much for you ministry. My late husband (who died last Dec. 27th of lung cancer) was a preacher. He sang a lot of blue grass and country gospel songs; in fact he loved the blue grass the most. He was only 56 when he died, from the Agent Orange in Vietnam. I miss him praying for me all the time, this is the hardest part of him going home that I have to face every day. Your songs have helped me and I pray that God will continue to bless your ministry.
God Bless,
Georgia Hall, Stuttgart, Arkansas

Other happenings…
Sharron Kay King, The Morris', Jamie Farmer and Cheri Taylor enjoyed signing autographs and meeting booksellers at the New Day booth during the recent CBA convention at Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center Feb. 1-3. All reported it was no only time enjoyed, but also well spent.

The Dunaways newest release, "Calvary Still Touches Me" was their highest debuting single ever, even as "God Will Move" continues to climb the chart, coming in at number 55 for April.

Christlike's "Here I Am Again" debuted in the Top 80, and is number 75 for April.

God is good - and we pray that He will help us to continue in fruitful labor.

See you next month!

No matter how many trials that we may have to push through, when we began to get calls on "God Has Not Forgotten You", we learned to smile through the trials. THANK YOU GOD for using us to make a difference in someones life.
