Consisting of husband and wife, Jeff and Amy Duvall along with Clay Parker and hailing from Trion , Georgia , this recording is my first introduction to this family group. I found their singing and musical style to be very warm and inviting; nothing that I would call spectacular, but quite enjoyable nonetheless. Their songs are strong and not over-arranged, but I would say that with a couple of songs, I would have “upped” the arrangement a bit, but all in all, this is a very good recording and one I definitely would recommend.
Always a favorite, the group kicks off with the classic, “MY FOOT'S ON THE ROCK” before slowing down for the title song, “KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE MASTER”, which is a beautiful ballad featuring Amy.
The bouncy acoustical flavor of “FOREVER AND A DAY” is a highly enjoyable tune and one that will stick with you long after the music stops.
Several years ago Debra Shepherd wrote a song that became pretty popular entitled, “IT WILL BE HARD NOT TO CRY” and the group turns in a good performance before moving on to the medium tempo, acoustical stylings of, “THE UPWARD ROAD”.
“WOULD YOU BE READY?” is a very serious song that poses a most pertinent question, “If Jesus should come today, would you be ready to go?” Oddly enough, this song sounds reminiscent to something Lanny Wolfe would had written back in the early and mid 1970s.
The uptempo “IF YOU'VE GOT A LITTLE TIME ON YOUR HANDS” offers some advice that “If you've got a little time on your hands, you need to get down on your knees” before the group moves on to the medium tempo, “LIFT UP YOUR HANDS”.
Slowing things down, “COME SEE A MAN” tells the story of the woman at the well. This ballad paints a wonderful picture of what forgiveness and salvation is all about. Recently recorded by the Jody Brown Indian Family, the Duvall Family does a good job with this song before moving on to the closing tune, “I'LL TAKE IT FROM HERE”.
For the most part, the group has a very nonchalant sound and most songs are approached with that mindset. The first song is probably the most rambunctious song on the recording, which shows that this group can tackle the energetic numbers with class. Though their basic sound is Southern Gospel, it is flavored with a bit of country/acoustical/Appalachia stylings. Their sound is nothing close to bluegrass, but they do have a folksy, but yet very classy sound that is easy to listen to. There isn't one vocalist that stands out among the rest, so this a good collective effort on all counts. The tracks are good and the overall quality of the recording is above par. My big issue is with a few words where the pronunciation could have been better (ie-Hea-vun and bur-dun), but not so bad that I can't enjoy the group and this CD. I look to hear a lot from these guys in the very near future.

Jeff, Amy & Clay have a real heart for ministry. I'm blessed to call them friends. Look for great things from The Duvall Family.
I believe The Duvall Family is one of the best groups today. I'm thankful that they are not in gospel singing just for entertainment but to spread the gospel. I have never seen a group that is as friendly as they are. Every time they sing it's a real blessing.
I consider it a privilege to know The Duvall Family, not only as a group, but as friends. They are truly real, not just putting on a good show, but meaning what they sing and caring for people everywhere they go. They are indeed awesome singers, but I believe that their success comes from serving God and giving him glory rather than seeking it for themselves. The Duvalls are not only my favorite singing group, but wonderful friends who love the Lord.
If you've never heard The Duvall Family live you don't know what you are missing. You cannot fully appreciate their music, and the moving of the Spirit when they sing until you hear them live. Plus, hearing them live you get a chance to meet them and see just how genuine they are in their ministry. It is an honor to call them my friends.
I have been trying to find their CD for the past two years and have not found it. I have tried their website but it is a domain for sale. Can someone tell me how to get this great CD?
