Niles Borop Receives Retirement Honor

HENDERSONVILLE, TN—Niles Borop recently received the first ever Daywind Music Publishing Impact Award at a surprise reception held in honor of his retirement.

Niles is known to many writers and artists as a father of southern gospel music publishing as we know it today. His company, Centergy Music, has been as a staple supplier of quality songs for several years.

"Niles has been a true impact on Daywind Music Publishing. He has always been a willing mentor for the success of our company," Brian Copeland, Daywind’s director of publishing said.

Joining Daywind Music Publishing’s staff is Centergy Music’s former director of publishing, Rick Shelton.

"Working with Niles has been one of the greatest learning experiences of my life. I’m excited about using all I’ve learned from Niles in my new job at Daywind," Rick said.

The Impact Award is given to a music industry professional who has made a significant contribution to the success of Daywind Music Publishing. Copeland indicates that Niles was the perfect, first award winner. Niles not only has been a significant publisher but is also known for writing songs such as 2003 Song of the Year "We Need To Thank God", "My Soul Desire", "Proclaim The Glory Of The Lord", "Famine In The Land", "It’s Still The Cross" and "Via Dolorosa" which was performed by Joyce Martin at the reception.

Niles has had more than 4000 cuts in his career. In retirement, his goal is to continue writing great songs to add to that cut list and build the kingdom of God. Centergy Music and Niles Borop Music’s administration continues to be handled by Integrated Copyright Group at (615) 329-3999.

Just wanted to add my congratulations to Mr. Borop on his recognition and retirement (from publishing.)

I have attended several workshops which he has led and he is such a blessing to writers.

I look forward to his future songs and wish him the best!

I send my congratulations to Niles for this award. I was associated with Niles when he was a student at Vanderbilt and was already writing music for Christian artists. I was with the Christian Church (disciples of Christ) in Nashville and Niles was an adult sponssor of our regional youth program. I had lost track of him and was glad to see his picture and the article above in the Gaither Homecoming Magazine. Would like to hear from him.

I am looking to license a CD for music from Centergy Music/Centergenic Music/Niles Borop Music. The song is "Giving Him w/Praise Him" I could not see a place to contact them. We are the Friesland Community Men's Chorus.
