Christian Brothers Quartet

There have been a lot of new groups formed within the past few years, some have lasted and some haven't. Here is a group that I predict will be around for a long time. Christian Brothers Quartet, consists of Lead - Bryon Pritchard, Tenor - Michael Hayes, Baritone – Eric Curtis, and founder, owner and Bass – Christian Davis. This group may not have major names associated with it, but it does have a major sound.

I spent a little time with them this past NQC and it was intersting to learn that they all have a variety of tastes in music. At any given time, one might find the Hoppers, Living Sacrifice, the McGruders and Dolly Parton in their CD players. But interstingly enough, Christian's most influential person vocally has been Tim Riley, while Michael's has been David Phelps, and Bryon's has been the Merle Haggard sound. The Christian Brothers jokingly describe themselves as the "Old Friends Quartet on steroids." Seriously though, they consider themselves as singing traditional Southern Gospel with an edge using difficult harmonies.

While I noted earlier said that this fine, young group didn't have major names associated with them, they do have some nice experience in their resumes. Christian sang Bass for the Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet. At his young age, Christian is one of the lowest Bass singers in SGM and is great at carrying a Bass lead. Michael Hayes sang with Heaven Bound and Chapter Four before joining the Christian Brothers. Newcomer, Eric Curtis sang with Wendy Bagwell and the Sunliters, the Weatherfords, and the Daryl Williams Trio. Byron Pritchards spent some time filling in for Jake Hess when he was singing with the Old Friends Quartet as well as being brother to Wesley Pritchard. So all of these guys have plenty of experience which to carry with them.

Spending four years with the Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet, Christian accumulated several industry award nominations. But, during a pastor’s conference he reached a turning point in his life when God confirmed in Christian what he was to do. Christian submitted his resignation to the OTGH group with plans to start his own Southern Gospel quartet.

“I’ve seen so many people fall on their face, because they didn’t follow the Lord’s will for their life. I moved when the Lord said go," said Christian.

They have two projects out now and are expecting to release another very soon. Much Required is made up of newer songs which will be familiar to many of you, and Hymns and Favorites Volume 1 is full of wonderful songs that are sure to bless your heart as you listen.

The Christian Brothers Quartet have announced that a new music project is underway! Due in Spring 2004 is a new project to be produced by Wayne Haun. They are also up for Horizon Group of the year in the Singing News Fan Awards.

If you have not seen this quartet, then don't miss the opportunity this July 30th when the Christian Brothers Quartet will appear at the SouthernGospelNews.Com Convention starting at 7PM at the River of Life Church, 215 Sam Ridley Parkway, Smyrna, TN.

God has annointed this talented group of singers with a special witness. How can anyone not realize the goodness of the Lord after hearing such resonant music! If the lyrics don't get you, the melody will. Go hear them every chance you get.

I work with the local gospel radio station where Michael Hayes is from, and Michael has always been so sincere in doing the will of
God. Michael has been answering the call to do the Lord's work with all his heart. I know he would not want any praise heaped on himself, but I am very happy that he has found a quartet that knows what a dedicated Christian and talented singer he truly is. Together,
these guys are truly phenomenal in their ministry.

I just found out about the Quartet today, I can't wait to hear them, I went to High School, and played trumpet with Christian... He has always been a nice guy, & I'm happy to see he's doing his part advancing the Kingdom of God & spreading the Good News! I pray much success for the group!
