Lighthouse Promotions - Jan 2003

As we head in to the New Year there are many things that come to mind. I sit and wonder what this year holds for my family and for Lighthouse Promotions/Harbor Music Group. There are things I would like to see happen in the coming year and I would like to share them with you in this brief article.

Our company has been blessed to work with some wonderful artists over the last 7 years. We have always been like family. Most of our artists are familiar with one another and they play the same circuit......playing for many of the same pastors and promoters around the country. It is a blessing to receive calls from pastors and promoters telling me how much they enjoyed one of our artists in their service. They continue to tell me that he Lord showed up in the service and that the artist was lead by the spirit of the Lord. And of course the greatest news is when they proceed to tell me that someone had been saved at the service. It is always encouraging to me that all of our artists have the same goal. That goal is to reach the lost and encourage the hurting. I pray this year that more people will come to know HIM through the ministry of our artists!

This year we also want to continue sending out songs with a message to the lost and hurting. We want the songs we send out on our radio compilations to be a blessing to people around the country. In a recent interview with James Hales (SoGospelNews.com), he asked me, "What is the most gratifying or satisfying part of what you do?" Here was my answer: "Let me give you an example…a couple of years ago I had went on the road with one of my artists one weekend and they were with the Primitives one night and the Primitives started doing a song called "We've Been so Blessed." That was one of the very first songs I ever promoted for the Primitives. Watching them do that song, even though at that point it was a couple of years old, was an experience. I looked across the audience and saw the response and the people were running the aisles, shouting and it was such a wonderful experience and then it was like the Lord spoke to me and showed me that I had just a little part of that. I was so blessed just by that. It just kind of reminded me that even though I am promoting, I am not just promoting that group or that song, but that I am promoting Jesus. To me, that was very, very gratifying."

I want someone to be driving down the road under conviction because of one of the songs they hear by one of our artists. I want someone who is going through a deep valley or a dark trial be encouraged by a song they hear from one of our radio compilations. I pray that the Lord will speak to them in the song and remind them that there is hope.

The Redeemed, one of our artists, is releasing a "Best Of" project in April. They are going back and getting all of their radio singles the past 10 years and also recording 4 new songs. The title of the album is "Songs fr The Journey." The title says it all. The Lord will give us songs for the journey. As we head in to a new year, you can bet we will face more trials. We all go through hurting at one time or another. But every once in a while, the Lord will send us a song to encourage us. Sometimes just hearing a message in a song on our way to work will give us the strength to make it through that day. Isn't it amazing how God can use a message in a sng and replace our strength with His grace. Because of His grace we can make it from day to day....week to week!

As I close, I want to thank those of you who call and request Southern Gospel music on radio stations. Keep supporting Southern Gospel Music! I pray that each one who reads this article or even visits this website is bessed. Please pray for our company that the Lord will continue to work through us. I want to be a vessel that God can use. I am reminded of an old Inspiration song, "Flow Through Me Holy Spirit, Flow Through Me!"

God Bless!

Until Next Month
