What’s the difference between giving up and giving in?
First let’s define the word quit to help us better understand what giving up is.
Quit-
1. To depart from; leave.
2. To leave the company of.
3.. To give up; relinquish.
4. To abandon or put aside; forsake
How many times in our lives are we been faced with a decision to quit something or give up? If we’re honest, I think that’s a question that comes up everyday. Let’s say you’re having an argument with a friend, co-worker, spouse, child, parent, teacher, stranger or whomever; “Oh come on, you never argue?” Let’s say that you’re in a discussion and you have to decide if it’s really worth arguing over. Sometimes, we have to give into the other person so that the argument doesn’t get out of hand. Ever been there? Of course you have; we all have. Sometimes we have to give up and say, “You know what, this isn’t worth fighting over.”
As Christians, how many times are we faced with a decision to give up and give into God? When we wrestle with God, how long does it take for us to give up on our own will and give into His? When we figure out that something we’ve been doing or continue to do is not part of God’s plan for our life, what do we do about it? When we ask God to show us His plan and He does, do we give up and give into Him? Do we, depart from, leave the company of, give up; relinquish, abandon or put aside; forsake our own plan? God says in Isaiah 55:8-9, “8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” God’s ways are better than ours. We ask God to guide and lead us and then we sometimes don’t go where He says go. Amen?! He knows what’s best for us. His plan is perfect. It’s best if we just give into Him.
Giving up isn’t wrong if we’re giving up on our plan and giving into God’s.
Until next time continue to be Driven…….
