1. The Dove Brothers have been a staple in this industry for over 10 years now. What do you attribute to your success?
I feel that being born and raised in Bladenboro, North Carolina has a lot to do with it, even though I am the only who doesn't live in Bladenboro. But all of our family is there except for Kelso, but he can live anywhere.
2. Tell us about your new record - Hold On.
I believe it has something for everyone. We brought back some songs from the 70s and 80s and recorded some new songs as well. Its a little traditional and old country and a tad 80ish and maybe tad different, but I love it! The song "Hold On" is really doing well in concert. It sounds like something George Jones would have recorded, so that is pretty cool and different.
3. You've recently been making a shift in your musical palette from straight forward traditional music to a slightly more country style. What was the reason for that shift?
Good question. We feel that there is an audience that loves the Old Country style, now I am not talking about New Country sound, but the traditional country sound of the 70s and 80s. So, we have added that favor to the last few cds or so. But, we still love the traditional sound and will always have that somewhere on our recordings.
4. What has been the response from fans?
It's been great!
5. Have you seen any negative response from the covering and changing up of country tunes like "You Don't Know God's Love" and "A Little God News"?
No. A lot of folks didn't know they where country songs. Now, "A Little Good News" they remember, but "You Don't Know God'ss Love" they thought was a new gospel song. We had maybe two or three that would say "didn't Ronnie Milsap record that song?"
6. "I Can Pray" has become that one song that seems to have defined you over the last couple of years. How has the song had an affect on your concerts?
Well, we can't leave without singing it, and if we don't sing it on the first half of the program the fans at the break will let you know very quick!
7. Is there anyone in the business that you haven't worked with yet that you would love to work with?
We haven't had the chance to work with Austins Bridge, and I would love to see them live
8. What advice can you give to new artists trying to break out?
Try to be who you are and what you feel God would have you to be and worry more about finding great songs than anything else, because it starts with the song. Gimmicks will come and go, but a great song will last forever. Well, almost forever! LOL!
9. What has God been teaching the Dove Brothers lately?
Sing to the people, but don't be afraid of doing what you feel that God wants you to do. Sometimes God has something new and fresh that is going to open doors that has never been opened before. But sometimes you worry about if the fans will like it, and you let what God has for you slip away because you are more afraid of the people instead of trusting God and believing that He will lead you the right direction.
10. Any additional information that you would like to share?
You never know what the Dove Brothers will record next! Ha Ha Ha!

Great conversation and I agree wholeheartedly with the advice to be who you are.Too many people are trying to be someone that is already in that spot, you know? Why would you try to sound like "insert name here"?
