As a reader last month pointed the first mistake often made is not properly setting the input gain or sometimes called trim. This knob is usually located at the top of your mixer. Think of the audio signal as water. The "water" comes in the back of the console or mixer and the first thing it hits is the gain knob
Contrary to what might appear on stage with their lighthearted spirit, this is a group of very humble men. Speaking of their lightheartedness, I made mention that they seemed to be much more relaxed on stage and using a little more humor in their program
Sitting down with Gerald and Kathy Crabb is quite a unique experience. Talk about down to earth, genuine people, that is exactly what this couple is. One thing that I learned about Gerald and Kathy is that any thing they can do to further the Gospel and Gospel Music, they are willing to do it.
With every window that is closed God always opens another one. Many of you by now have heard the sad news of the passing of Pauline "Mom" Lewis.
Commonplace occurrences, I have found, have the most extraordinary effect on me. More than ninety percent of my songs have been inspired through some ordinary event in the course of an average day.
If you are facing a storm I would ask that you read Psalm 46. The first verse says "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." David speaks of God being our refuge two other times in that chapter. He will be our refuge if WE let him be.
To me nothing is more exciting than being able to hear a group at one of it's first concerts. Integrity on their second night as a group. It was obvious from the moment we arrived this was going to be a special night. There were people there from Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ohio, Mississippi and many other states.
Groups pop up out of nowhere all the time. Many of them blow in, blow up and blow out. It takes something special to keep a group going. It takes the hand of God upon their lives and ministry and a love to do what they know God has called them to do.
SoGospelNews.com announced this week its plans on implementing a new fan based chart in addition to the site’s many features
Leaving something that is comfortable and that you have known for years is never an easy task. However, this is something that Kim Ruppe-Lord had to face a couple years ago. Ruppe-Lord was a member of the most successful female group in Southern Gospel, The Ruppes. After spending her lifetime singing with her family, all she's ever known, God called her to pack her bags and go in a different direction

All of these were produced in this past year. I must admit that there were some CDs released late last year that got a lot of radio play this year, but these picks are solely from 2002 releases.

I have a riddle for you? What do you get when you take 3 single boys from one quartet and two single boys from another, put them together and tell them to sing? Answer: The Five Broke Single Boys.
Controversial. That is the easiest way to describe the last few years of the Martins' career. They've been called everything in the book by die hard southern gospel fans around the world (including our very own message boards).
The name Legacy Five fits this group well. "This being our 4th year, we find ourselves doing nothing but going uphill in a progressive climb," says Roger. First signing with Cathedral records at their formation, now recently signing with Daywind Records, this group is moving nowhere but up
Of course, another reason I love December is because I can listen to Christmas Music and people won't look at me strange. See, I started listening to Christmas Music back in September! I just love Christmas Music. I have acquired a large Christmas collection. I even picked up a few more Christmas projects to listen to the last several weeks.
I want no part in spreading negative news. I don't want to spread lies, either, when I know that's what they are. I confess that I may sometimes be too willing to accept an "innocent" reason for some group change, or whatever, not realizing there was something more involved. But would spreading such dirt really be edifying for anyone?
Kelly and I met at a concert in Boaz, AL. I was with the Perrys at the time. I saw Kelly and said to myself, "I'm going to marry that girl". I made sure I got her phone number before we left and I called her. I would say it was definitely love at first sight.
New Ground sang their very first concert at their home church in Scottsboro, Alabama on June 19, 1993, and they've been singing ever since. As New Ground has continued over the years, they have also been a launching pad for several artists such as Mickey Bell, Randy Matthews, Michael Camp, Kenny Allen, Ritchie Works and Josh Simpson, who have gone on to work with groups like the Steeles, Gold City, Brian Free and Assurance, and Phil Cross and Poet Voices
We just need to remember that even when we are afraid we can look to Him. There's really no need to worry because He is always near. You might be going through something that only you and Him knows about. It may even seem like an impossible situation. You may think "there's no way this situation is going to work out." Have you ever been at a crossroads in your life and you're not sure what to do? You feel trapped and unless a miracle takes place you're not going to make it? Remember STRANGER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED
Mixing nationally known speakers, great gospel music, and caring churches spreading the word, is a recipe for success in drawing and reaching people with the gospel. David Ring, Jerry Falwell, John Hagee, Ken Freeman, James Merritt, and former Green Bay Packer legend, Reggie White, are just a few of the speakers, and Sons of The Father, Karen Peck & New River, and the Lesters are just a few of those presenting gospel music.
What do you get when you combine 16 artists all under one roof with the intentions of singing the house down? You can try to imagine, but I'm going to tell you!
Within 2 months of Opryland closing its doors, Silver Dollar City called Depp with an offer he and the boys just couldn't refuse
From 1970 till 2003 one thing remains, when the Perrys sing, hearts are blessed. Though their sound has changed through out the years as what once was an all family group is now made up of only one original Perry, Libby Perry Stuffle, the heart of their ministry has always remained.
Michael and Kim Lord, Karen Peck Gooch, Susan Peck Gooch, John Darin Rowsey, Joyce Martin McCullough, Judy Martin Hess, Paul Lancaster, Depp Britt
We had a great time at our showcase on Friday. The Lord came in and visited with us during those few hours we were gathered. It just seemed like the artists were ready for worship. I was so excited to see how the artists were all working together and how they were all focused on the same thing
On August 22, 23, and 24th, songwriters came from all across the country to attend the Songwriting Seminar and Concert of a Lifetime that was sponsored by Mark Jones Music and Five For Him Promotions.

No, he's not a household name but that's only because he is not on the front lines singing. God has blessed Joel with a powerful ministry of pointing the world to the cross through his songs. Though I have seen his name on countless songs
Picture this! Here we are rushing to get to the Ryman Auditorium and wouldn't you know it, even though there were no traffic jams, it seemed it was taking forever to get there. Once we finally arrived, we had to hunt for parking. We're parked, we rush inside to get to the will call window to pick up our back stage passes and tickets. Somehow we get behind this lady who was ordering Opry tickets for the next three weeks, and she was taking FOREVER
The first recordings of a Dunaway in this family date back to 1982. Later Randall Dunaway, (my husband), Kanah our 11 year old daughter and myself began singing and recording as a family group in 1996

As I sat in the small, but humble office about to interview the third voice of The Happy Goodmans, I got the same feeling about the man I was about to talk with. Johnny Minick sings to thousands every weekend, yet is back in his church, River of Life Assembly of God, on Sunday morning, ministering to his congregation.
In 1995, Tommy Swindle began a step in his life that would be totally different than all others. Tommy has been involved in southern gospel music for 25 years. At age 12, he was playing piano for various groups, including the Singing Ambassadors. Today, he is going on 7 years of singing full time
